Don’t build fat at work
While many of us here on social media are busy trying to build a business or a career there is something else building…up and up and up. Yep, fat. How many of you ‘missed’ your training session this morning to get to work early and beat the traffic? Think about this. Even one day off movement every week is 52 days off in 365 that you sat on your butt rather than promoting health and fitness. I’m not saying there is no room for recuperation. I’m talking about endless days sitting on your butt working, watching TV and sitting in transport.
There’s room for days that are not creating sweat buckets at the gym but those days should still involve lots of movement. Go for leisurely walk for example. Whatever. As. Long. As. You. Don’t. Sit.All.Day!
So how long do you think you can concentrate for without taking a break? Science says it’s about 90 minutes. Yep. 90 minutes before you are not being productive. So I aim for a quick 5 minute break every hour, but no longer than 1.5 hours. I get up and move around so that my legs can stretch, I burn a few kilojoules more than sitting and refresh my mind.
For those of you that are familiar with my writing you would know I am a BIG believer in morning exercise. I then try to fit in some walking regularly through the day. Every day is different. It’s about making the most of opportunities!
Kicking butt in your business or career means making sure you are kicking butt on your fitness. Longevity in your business cannot be sustained without good health. Invest now.
